Meet Tavia Vital, BSN, BA, RN, CDCES and our new Director of Intensive Diabetes Management!

Integrated Diabetes Services is delighted to announce the addition of Tavia Vital to our clinical team as our new Director of Intensive Diabetes Management.

Tavia is a Registered Nurse, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, and Certified Trainer on most makes/models of insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitoring systems.  She has lived with T1D for 40 years and also has a son with T1D.

Tavia receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from the University of Iowa and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Regis University in Denver, Colorado.  Her professional experience includes working as a nurse in an Intermediate Care Unit then working as an outpatient nurse in endocrinology, diabetes, and metabolism, as well as high-risk diabetes and pregnancy.

“My focus is on helping IDS’s clients to improve their self-management skills while reducing their diabetes burden,” says Tavia.  “If they can achieve better results with less work, then I’ve done my job right.”

Tavia is fluent in Spanish and will also be spearheading Integrated Diabetes Services’ programs for Spanish-speaking populations.  She is an active listener, a passionate expert, and a true advocate for people with diabetes.  She can be relied upon to provide strong support for clients facing any of life’s challenges.

Tavia lives in Iowa with her husband and their two children.  She loves playing tug with her Husky, Sysko, and listening to her cockatiels, Piper and Daisy.  Tavia enjoys walking, gardening, kayaking, reading and traveling with her family.
