JDRF is matching students with Type 1 diabetes to internships in the diabetes industry! Applications open until 1/5/18!

Here at Integrated Diabetes Services we see first hand that living with Type 1 diabetes gives us a special skill set in our careers in the field of diabetes. As persons with diabetes we have insight, skills, and experiences that make us uniquely qualified to serve professionally in the fields of technology, advocacy, education and more. We also are excited to see young people empowered and encouraged to take roles in the diabetes field and lead the way!

Each year JDRF offers a number of internship opportunities to young people with Type 1.

“The JDRF Students with Diabetes Internship Program is an immersive, competitive program designed to develop and train undergraduate and graduate students living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) to become leaders in the diabetes community.”(JDRF)

The 8 week summer internships open doors and experiences for undergrad and graduate students to get real world exposure and experience with some of the nation’s leading diabetes companies.

Applications are now being accepted and will be until January 5^th 2018. Applicants will also need a letter form their healthcare provider documenting their T1 diagnosis, as well as a letter of recommendation from a professor or employer.

The future of diabetes care, research, advocacy, legislation, technology, commerce and empowerment is in the hands of the next generation! Young people will drive the directions that this piece of their world takes. It is important that those people behind the wheel have first hand experience of what it is like to live with this disease daily.
