Three Sweet Years: Medtronic’s Insulin Tech Delivers the Goods
Great news! A 3-year study shows that the MiniMed™ 780G insulin pump system helps people with Type 1 diabetes manage their blood sugar more effectively.
The study followed 1,145 people, ages 16 and older, across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. After starting on the MiniMed™ 780G system, users spent significantly more time in the target blood glucose range of 70–180 mg/dL, averaging 78.6%, and maintaining that stability over the full three-year period.
The MiniMed™ 780G is Medtronic’s most advanced insulin pump system yet. It can automatically detect when you’re eating and adjust insulin every five minutes to help keep blood sugar levels from peaking much too high. And the best part? It does this for both mealtime and background insulin needs!
One of the best parts about the MiniMed™ 780G system is how much it takes off the patient’s plate. Over time, it starts handling more of the insulin delivery on its own. In simple terms, the system learned to do more of the work, so users didn’t have to. Results were particularly impressive when users trusted the system and applied the recommended settings — like aiming for a glucose target of 100 mg/dL.
