Join us in Costa Rica (with Alicia) or West Virginia (with Kathryn) as we gather to engage, unite and empower one another to live a more fulfilling life with type 1 diabetes.
Two incredible women living with type 1 diabetes, Gina Marrra and Angie Kaiser, have put together a non-profit that will organize retreats for people living with type 1 diabetes called Sweet Living T1D retreats. Last year, the first-ever retreat was held in Costa Rica with our clinician, Kathryn, leading the diabetes education sessions.
In attending a retreat, you can expect to learn how to monitor and better control blood sugar under one of the integrated diabetes services clinicians by learning about the glycemic index and bolus timing, basal testing, hypoglycemia prevention, and treatment, as well as how to make adjustments for exercise, stress, sick days and more.
This information should be readily available to all those diagnosed with type 1, but unfortunately, it is not. Many of us rely on support groups and trial and error to survive. We can do so much more than survive. With the knowledge and skills you will learn on a sweet living retreat, along with the supportive relationships we will develop, we can live a full life filled with adventures and joy.
