Psych Services Now Available through Integrated Diabetes Services

Recognizing that our ultimate goal at Integrated Diabetes Services is to help our clients live healthier, happier lives, we cannot overstate the importance of sound emotional health.

Diabetes places an emotional and physical strain on all of us (patients, caregivers, and yes, even healthcare providers!), putting us at high risk for a number of mental health complications.  To address this need, we have partnered with one of the best in the business:  Dana Lehman, Psy. D.

About Dr. Lehman:

dana lehmanDr. Lehman is a clinical psychologist who has had type 1 diabetes since she was 11 years old. She completed her graduate studies at Widener University with a concentration in health psychology.  Her dissertation research focused on disordered eating behavior in people with Type 1 Diabetes.  Her areas of expertise include diabetes-specific stress/burnout, obsessive behaviors, depression, addiction and women’s health issues.  She counsels children and adults in individual or family/group settings.

In taking care of her own diabetes, Dr. Lehman uses an insulin pump and continuous glucose monitor.

“After decades of living with this disease, I’ve come to truly understand the impact it can have on mental health and well-being,” says Dr. Lehman.  “I have my share of ups and downs like everyone else.  It definitely helps to relate to my clients on a personal and professional level.”

In addition to her work with Integrated Diabetes Services, Dr. Lehman runs a thriving private practice in downtown Philadelphia.  Her passions include traveling to developing countries, sushi, hiking, and downing way too many Coke Zeros.

Appointments with Dr. Lehman are available remotely (via phone and video chat), so geography and travel are never an issue.  She has graciously discounted her fees so that they are comparable with standard appointment charges at Integrated Diabetes Services.
