Patient Care Philosophy – Meeting YOUR Diabetes Goals
Happy New Year!! It is 2021 – we can all hope for improvement for so many things this year. As I reflect on things from the past year, I try to focus on the things that came out of 2020 in a positive light, despite a lot of time being spent in a very contained space for many people.
One of the good things about this past year is the fact that a lot of people with diabetes, whether they wanted to or not, had time to reflect on management and set goals. Staying home, starting a routine of working from home without a commute, schooling kids from home and for many a loss of routine brought a lot of change to life. We had to adjust. But people with diabetes are pretty good at adjustment as long as progress to a positive goal is made. Given more time in a day without many places to go helped many to see that help was needed to get things contained in a way that might not have been possible before because of lack of time to devote to adjustment.
As a team, we saw growth in education for the people who came to work with Integrated Diabetes Services. I don’t know if it was related to the fact that visits with in-clinic health care teams in-person came to a halt before adjustments were made to allow for telehealth visits, or just that people realized they needed more hands-on care and their current team couldn’t fill in the gaps remotely. That is one of the many things we do so very well!!
We strive to provide a care philosophy that emphasizes personalized management strategies. Working with people on an individual level in a very strategic manner to assess needs as well as work toward personal goals. Our goal is to provide you with the tools to learn how to adjust to the ever-changing variables life throws at us. Most people are tired of going to see a care team that simply puts a Band-Aid on an issue with adjustments that aren’t individualized. People need to be heard and education needs to start at a different place for everyone. Wherever you are in your diabetes need, the team at Integrated Diabetes Services customizes education to your unique needs. Not many clinical teams can say that as well as provide quick response between visits to fine-tune.
If your goals in this new year include improving your diabetes management, it might be time to give us a call and help you get started to a true New Year full of lots of positive results including improved health. We have a team of clinicians who all live with diabetes and have full knowledge of what it takes to manage and live well with diabetes. Give us a call, we’d love to help you on your path to wellness in 2021!
