Open-Source AID Support & Guidance
Open Source often referred to as DIY (do-it-yourself), Automated Insulin Delivery Systems combine commercially available insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors with open access, build-it-yourself algorithms in smartphone app form.
These systems have gained popularity due to their efficacy, customization, and ease of use compared to commercially available “approved” systems. However, choosing the right Open Source System, setting it up, and using it safely and effectively can be very challenging.
The clinical team at Integrated Diabetes Services has extensive experience coaching users of all ages on safe and effective use of the various Open Source applications – including Loop, Trio, AAPS, and the various iterations of “APS”.

Our Open Source consulting services include:
- Education on the pros/cons of the various Open Source options (compared to commercially available systems)
- Preparation for safe/effective use of Open Source hybrid closed loop technology
- Resources for “building” and maintaining the system
- Assurance that proper insulin delivery settings are utilized
- Training on advanced aspects of the system
- Optimization of glucose control using Open Source

What Patients Are Saying:
“Thanks to IDS, my son’s A1C and in-range numbers are amazing (our endo says he’s in his top percentage of patients for good control at this time), and he’s feeling great. We owe IDS a great deal for not only helping us gain better control over T1D, but also for helping both my son and me thrive!“
– Elizabeth D (Mom of Michael) USA
“Working with a brilliant educator who also lives with T1D has been remarkable – their expert knowledge, kind coaching, and deep experience with a wide range of topics have helped me overcome so many different parts of living with this condition. “
“We were paired up with Tavia and without exaggeration, she literally saved us. She is an expert at the system we were on – interpreting our settings, explaining things like glycemic index, how to bolus for certain food types, exercise settings, using extended bolus, and she worked hard at fine-tuning every aspect of our management.”
