JDRF has announced a new online resource for people with type-1 diabetes to help navigate and maximize their health insurance benefits and options.   

Contents include:

• How to choose an insurance plan (private or public)
• Clear explanations of commonly-used insurance terms
• Strategies for appealing denials
• Obtaining prior authorization for prescribed meds and devices
• Applying for exceptions of non-preferred (or non-covered) products
• Financial assistance programs for people with Type-1 diabetes

The site also contains resources for employers and human resource specialists to help guide health plan choices and decisions.
