IDS Monthly Survey: December 2024
LAST MONTH’S SURVEY QUESTION:
In last month’s edition of Diabetes Bites, we asked for your opinion on the role government should play to ensure that everyone has access to health insurance.
Here’s how you responded:
4% Keep government as far away from health insurance as possible. They can only screw it up.
7% Government should only step in to provide health insurance in cases of extreme poverty/disability.
50% Everyone should be able to choose between private (employer-sponsored) and government-sponsored health insurance.
39% To keep costs down, I’m in favor of single-payer government-sponsored health insurance for everyone.
Although there are no “easy answers,” an overwhelming majority of our readers feel that government should play an important role in seeing that everyone can access health insurance. Perhaps this is related to the fact that our readers either live with or care for someone with diabetes. But given that about half of all Americans have at least one chronic health condition, one can only hope that the next administration heeds the call.

Only ever used tubeless because I HATE the idea of tubed. That’s more challenging now because Medicare does not consider tubeless as DME. LOVE MY OMNIPOD.
Yes, I’d like to see some articles, comments, surveys, statistics about people who are still using injections. now that I see Travis’s comment, I know there must be at least two of us
I am constantly getting tangled up in my tubing and it gets in the way a lot when I’m trying to cook and stuff
I coil my tubing and use piece of medical tape or a bandaid to tape it to my side, keeps it from flying everywhere 🙂
hmmm, no “never used tubing” or “not using a pump” options. Survey results will be interesting to see since tubing helped keep me on injections
Will the X2 pump ever be improved and not have a black cartridge and be easier to load?
Hi Rose, Tandem is in the process of a complete redesign of the X2 pump. in the mean time they have released their Mobi pump. the cartridge has been replaced with a clear, easy to fill reservoir much more like Medtronic’s in design and functionality.
