Grandma’s Crunchy Walnut Bread

Recipe compliments of Kaye Jewell

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2.5 cups flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or sugar alternative such as allulose or monkfruit)
  • 1 Tbsp. Baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup Milk (add ½ c more for moist bread)
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour standard bread pan
  2. In a large bowl, whisk 2.5 c. flour, 1 c. sugar, 1 Tbsp baking powder, and ½ tsp salt.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk 1 c. milk and egg.
  4. Stir milk and egg mixture into the flour and mix until combined.
  5. Coarsely chop walnuts to make 1 cup.
  6. Stir in walnuts and spread the mixture into the pan.
  7. Bake 50 -60 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Allow to cool. Remove from pan.
  9. Slice and toast.
