LAST MONTH’S SURVEY QUESTION:
In the November edition of Diabetes Bites, we asked for your living-with-diabetes approach to handling big holiday meals. 129 Friendly feasters responded. Here’s what they had to say:
34% Screw diabetes. I’m eating everything and anything I want.
10% I eat pretty much anything I want, but minimize the sweets.
31% I eat what I want, but try to keep the carb intake within check.
21% I partake in the meal, but stick with healthy choices and modest portions.
4% I stay away from holiday meals. They are impossible to manage.
Looks as though the Gary approach (“screw diabetes”) beat out the rest of the IDS staff’s choices… but not by much. Of course, Gary’s blood sugar reflected it.
