Remote Emotional Support Counseling
Living with diabetes can be tough.
It’s like having another demanding (and sometimes frustrating) 24/7 job on top of everything else in your life. It’s no wonder that people with diabetes (and their caregivers) are at an increased risk for depression, burnout, anxiety, eating disorders, and a variety of other emotional health issues.
The American Diabetes Association recently announced the launch of a Mental Health Provider Referral Directory, which can help you locate mental health professionals in your area. The listings are still a bit hit-or-miss, but that’s not a problem because we offer access to one of the best diabetes clinical social workers in the world: Kristi Paguio LMSW, CDCES, CSOWM
Kristi was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2000 and has specialized in the mental and emotional aspects of diabetes since that time. She is a licensed clinical social worker, diabetes care and education specialist, and certified specialist in obesity and weight management.
She is passionate about empowering those living with diabetes to live their fullest life possible and builds on the strengths of those she works with. Kristi incorporates enthusiasm and a great sense of humor, as she employs a real-life, practical approach to optimizing life with diabetes.

Kristi’s areas of expertise include:
- Family Dynamics
- Burnout
- Stress Management
- Anxieties (including fear of high or low blood sugar)
- Depression
- Obesity
- Pregnancy
Kristi is available to work with all clients of Integrated Diabetes Services (past or present) via remote means such as phone/video chat. Her rates for counseling sessions are similar to our standard IDS appointment fees.
If distress is getting in the way of your ability to enjoy life and take care of your diabetes (or a loved one’s diabetes), let us help.
