A quick note from Gary… A Silver Lining to Coronavirus?

Despite the inane ramblings of a certain president-who-shall-not-be-named, coronavirus is nothing to be messed with. People with diabetes are at an increased risk of contracting the virus, and the effects can be more severe.  Nevertheless, with proper precautions and self-management strategies, we will get through this.

Perhaps there is a silver lining that can be derived from this pandemic (other than an increased awareness of the importance of hand washing!).  For years, the healthcare community has fought the payor/insurance system for the right to provide non-critical care in a virtual (remote) manner. Why expose yourself and your loved ones to potential harm if you don’t have to?  The coronavirus is the kind of pandemic that may open the eyes of the health insurance community to the need for and efficacy of remote healthcare services.
