dexcom g4 & g5 discontinued

Using the Dexcom G4 Platinum or G5 continuous glucose monitor in the United States?

If so, it’s time to upgrade.

  • In June of 2020, Dexcom will stop selling G4 PLATINUM and G5 Mobile CGM transmitters and the share 2 app will stop working.
  • By the end of 2020, Dexcom will stop selling G4 PLATINUM and G5 Mobile CGM sensors.
  • Come December, dexcom will stop supporting the dexcom studio app, you will still be able to view data but support and updates will no longer be available. Past data will remain on the Dexcom Studio app, but there’s currently no way of bringing this data into Dexcom Clarity.

Dexcom encourages its customers to upgrade to the Dexcom G6 CGM and to start using Dexcom Clarity to view blood sugar trends. The Dexcom G6 CGM requires no fingerstick calibrations, longer wear time, easier insertion, is priced the same as G5 sensors, and the ability to share blood sugar data with up to 10 followers on the Dexcom follow app.

The G7 has an expected commercial launch in 2021 and the discontinuation is paving the way.
